Catherine Harper Lee: Board Chair

Catherine Harper Lee is the founder and executive director of Ohio Crime Victim Justice Center formally the Justice League of Ohio. Cathy is a native of central Ohio. For the past 20 years, Cathy has been pursuing her passion - helping to ensure crime victims are treated with fairness, dignity, and respect, their voices heard, and legal rights enforced. Cathy is a member of the National Crime Victims Law Institute and Sertoma, serves on the Ohio Crime Victims Rights Collaborative, Ohio Council on Victims Justice, Central Ohio Sexual Assault Task Force, and has served on Ohio Attorney Mike DeWine's Sexual Assault Kit Testing Commission, Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine's Violent Crimes with Guns Advisory Council.

Adenike Gbadebo

Adenike Gbadebo is a Family Nurse Practitioner and Forensic Nurse Examiner with more than 10 years’ experience in the nursing profession. Currently, she is a nurse practitioner in the Urgent care setting and is entrusted with caring for patients having acute or exacerbations of chronic medical problems. As a forensic nurse and domestic violence survivor, Adenike is passionate about improving the health and well-being of patients from marginalized communities, especially those affected by violence. She holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Chamberlain University, a Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ohio University, and an Associates of Science in Nursing from Aultman College of Nursing. She is from Vancouver Canada originally and has been living in the U.S. with her loving husband and 4 children for the past 16 years.

Elizabeth Benzinger, PhD

Dr. Elizabeth Benzinger received a PhD from the University of Illinois Agronomy Department in 1990 where she used fledgling DNA methods to investigate genetic engineering of crop plants. In 1990 she joined Illinois State Police where she helped to establish the state forensic DNA lab—one of the original 13 pilot sites for the FBI’s CODIS database. Dr. Benzinger was a member of the first organization to establish standards for DNA testing—the Technical Working Group on DNA Methods. In 1996, she came to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation to assist in the set-up of another state forensic DNA lab. Dr. Benzinger has acted as supervisor, trainer, quality manager, technical leader, and researcher during her time at BCI. She has published many technical papers on DNA testing and gives frequent talks on the application of DNA to criminal investigation.

Steven Marks

Dr. Steven Marks has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare space, with about 20 years working in educational and talent management positions. Currently, he is working for Ascension Healthcare in a national role as the Director of Associate Career Development. In his position provider, he provided the leadership to Mount Carmel Health System, to open an 11,000 sq foot simulation center. Dr. Marks also holds adjunct positions at Franklin University and Niagara University. He also worked in patient care as a surgical trauma ICU nurse, rehab aid, and pre-hospital care paramedic. Dr. Marks is a life-long learner, earning 5 different college degrees, with his terminal degree being a PhD in Education, specialized in Educational Technologies.
